Online Video Becoming More Important in Marketing

Advertising Age reported...

As online video consumption continues to rise, advertisers increasingly value viral viewings as a clear and visible sign that their campaigns are engaging audiences. In response, viral video analytics are becoming sophisticated. YouTube has enhanced its video analytics offer, and companies such as Visible Measures and Unruly Media are providing comprehensive viral monitoring services across multiple online video platforms.

Television Industry decline

Christopher Hosford posted a story on December 23, 2009 on btobonline.com that shows were people are increasingly going for entertainment and news...and its not television.

He reported, "the television industry will end 2009 with an advertising sales slide of 22.4%."

And, significantly, he reported that "while overall TV ad sales declined this year, TV revenue from online advertising grew 12%."

Cyber Monday Tells Trends

What are the implications of this year's dramatic increase in online sales?

In an article posted December 17 on adage.com, Marc Brownstein discusses advertising and marketing implications of this year's dramatic increase in Cyber Monday sales. (You can subscribe free to adeage.com.)

Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving) sales were up 13.7% over last year. While 13% may not sound like a huge increase, remember that the economy is running in negative territory this year.

Marc stated "If you haven't done so already, you need to up the ante. Marketing plans will have to be re-engineered. Media plans have to be re-adjusted. Creative has to be re-thought."

He continues "Building brands in 2010 will take more than a copywriter and art director...because advertising will be as much about creating unique brand experience as it is about clever TV/Print/Radio ads."

He explains that your marketing mix will require a unique combination of website design, careful web keyword selection, and innovative digital communications to reach potential customers. And, this also will be increasingly important for companies selling to other companies (B2B).

When potential customers find your website, what will compel them to stay and learn more about your products and services? What will convince them to make a purchase?

What better way to hold your customer's interest than with a compelling website video about your products or services?
